Immersive Exhibitions: A New Era of Artistic Experience

The opening moments of the Sistine Chapel exhibition

Immersive exhibitions are innovative projects that, through cutting-edge technology, allow audiences to literally step inside works of art.
With high-resolution projections, spatial sound, and interactive elements, visitors don’t just observe—they become part of the story.

At the Sistine Chapel: The Heritage exhibition, Michelangelo's frescoes have been recreated at a 1:1 scale.

Case Study: Sistine Chapel. The Heritage

One of the latest examples of such an exhibition is Sistine Chapel: The Heritage, now open in Częstochowa, near Jasna Góra. Thanks to over 270,000 high-resolution images, Michelangelo’s frescoes have been recreated at a 1:1 scale, offering visitors an unprecedented level of detail.

Cinema Room

The exhibition consists of three main sections:

  • Educational Hall – presents the historical and artistic context of the frescoes.

  • Cinema Room – features a documentary about Michelangelo’s creative process.

  • Immersive Hall – large-scale projections allow visitors to experience the Sistine Chapel’s frescoes in a fully immersive environment.

Technology in Service of Art

Executing such an advanced project required collaboration with experts in multimedia technology. As a technological partner of the exhibition, ARAM was responsible for:

Immersive Hall of the Sistine Chapel: The Heritage Exhibition

  • Technical design – developing a detailed plan for equipment installation.

  • Installation – setting up 39 Panasonic projectors to create a seamless image across walls and ceilings.

  • Technical support – ensuring flawless operation throughout the exhibition’s duration.

Choosing the right projectors was crucial—they needed to be quiet, compact, and deliver impeccable image quality to enhance, rather than disrupt, the art experience. With precise calibration, the exhibition successfully creates a sense of full immersion within the Sistine Chapel’s masterpieces.
